July 4 swap

I now, I'm a tad late in writing this post but I so wanted to share with you what Julie (aka Treelady) sent me for the July 4 swap we partook in the Scattered Prairie Gals Henhouse.

Ready to take a peak?  Ho.... the box is full!

Let's see what is underneath!

What a festive tablerunner.....

Matches perfectly with the towel ...!

And apron!

Last but not least...!

Isn't purty?

Thank you again Julie for being my swap partner!  I just love everything you made for me!

Thanks for stopping!

On a sunny Monday...!

On July 22 I met up with one of my farm sisters from Mary Jane Farm sisterhood - Scattered Prairie Gals chapter.  I would like to introduce you to Michele aka Batznthebelfry.

Michele is living "off Grid" in order to write a book about her experience.  There's nothing like being in the thick and thin of things to liven up the experience.

What do I mean by "off grid"?  Michele has the bare bone necessities.  She lives in a trailer and has electricity but very minimal.  We're talking lights, stove and refrigeration.  No internet and no phone.  If you want to communicate with her, you do so via snail mail; the old fashion way!

She is also working on being self sufficient.  She is quite the creative gardener.  Here is a sneak peak.

Oh so country looking!

Nothing like using anything and everything to plant your next garnish.

She has a vegetable garden in the back, along a fence where she grows her beans and what not.  This is her view from the fence.  Quite serene wouldn't you say?

Ahhh.... laundry day!

She has chickens that she likes to refer to as her "kids".  A few of her "kids" are what could be termed the "misfits" or "unfavourable" of a flock, meaning they are handicapped in some way. She provides a safe home for them.

Meet Charlie Chaplin, a misfit.

Actually that is not her name, but I just cannot recall her original name.  She introduced her to me as her Charlie Chaplin.  She walks just like him and that's the name that stuck with me.

Her misfit "kids" make their home in the trailer with her.  They have a special tent for egg laying that provides privacy.

She has other "kids" that are in an outside coop.  Lately, she's been working hard to make the coop raccoon safe.

Meet "handsome"

Not his name but he sure is a good lookin' boy!  She has a special place in her heart for roosters.

Recently, Mr. Grumpy, as she likes to call him, brought her a calf that she named Watson.  Watson lost his mother at birth.  She's been taking care of him, feeding him twice a day.  He is quite the cutie pie!

She works with what ever she has to create what I like to call the "country look".

Working with what she finds, she expresses her creative talent.  In early history this would be referred as "making do".  This is what she gifted me, which is now in my "girls" coop.

The snowflake is made from electrical fencing that she picked up along the way. How creative is that?

Thank you for stopping by.
